WILLOW ASH - PLAY THIS SHIT LOUD.

What were your beginnings like?

The idea for Willow Ash came to me when I was living in an old haunted-ass farmhouse. I’m not 100% sure what the connection between being terrified of being in my home and writing stoner doom was, but somehow it just clicked for me.

What inspires you?

I love horror, fantasy, the occult, and ancient astronaut theory; these are themes that I write about which are very prevalent in my lyrics and that is most of what inspires me: sex, satan, aliens, drugs, alcohol, local Vermont lore, cryptids, ghosts, and psychological disorders.

Why do you make music?

Because I love music, all kinds of music and I am obsessed with trying to blend genres into “new” forms and styles that suit my interests at the time.  Music is literally my life. It’s the only thing that makes me truly at peace.

What's the album or track of yours you're most proud of, and why?

I think it would be the album Hypnagogia. I spent a lot of time writing and producing that record and it was the first time I actually wrote a full length with a theme that strings throughout the entire thing. It’s just a good 70’s-esque pop record as far as doom metal is concerned. I’m incredibly proud of it.

What are your nearest plans?

Raising my 9 month old daughter is first and foremost for me right now, but I have a few sketches for a new record, also my two side projects, The Coldwell Conspiracy and Veiled Christ-  TCC has an albums worth of music written but no vocals yet and VC has a bunch of lyrics but no music yet. Those may take a while though…

What would you like to say to the world?

You see that friend you have online that is always posting music they’ve written that no one gives a shit about?  Go listen to it. Like the post. Give feedback. This is how musicians thrive and a small gesture from you can change a person’s whole outlook on something that they love but may feel defeated by.

What is your favorite drink?

Yeungling!

1 what were your beginnings like ?

my beginning was quite slow, let me explain better .. I started making music a bit for fun, then over time I started to get passionate and to dedicate all of myself to my project, I started sending demos to many labels and I was producing music 24/7, doing so day after day I started to have the first positive feedback and to have the first releases on different labels

2 what inspires you ?

well, let's say that I spent most of my life on a beautiful island, surrounded by nature and landscapes that leave you speechless, then I moved and still live in London, a wonderful reality, the architecture, the art and the fantastic culture of this place has made sure that I take the best of both worlds and put them into my productions, my music and the environment that surrounds me are in symbiosis, every experience I have lived, both beautiful and bad are all part of my music

3 why do you make music ?

Because is part of my life, daily.
I think the music is one of the purest expression of art in the world, music doesn't have a meaning, music is pure expression, free.

4 what's the album or track of yours you're most proud of, and why ?

I would say all of them, every albums or tracks have a story, they're all important for me.

5 what are your nearest plans ?

my nearest plan for the moment is to finish my new album and start performing my music in live.

6 what would you like to say to the world?
